“HE WENT THROUGH HELL FOR US!”

                                                      Revelation 1:17-18
17
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Passion Week, in the Christian liturgical year, is the week immediately preceding what is called Easter in the Western and Protestant Church, or Eastern Church with its focus on the Resurrection. Passion Week begins with Paschal in the Ancient Faith

Palm Sunday: with sacred rites observed commemorating the so-called “Triumphant Entry” of King Jesus, the “Christo,” the entry which was more appropriately described as; “His final agonizing journey, to His own crucifixion;” Palm Sunday:

  • The implementation of His rescue mission, His shifting of Divine Order, for a people who adored him in one breath, saying Hosanna, to the Son of David, Blessed is He that cometh, in the name of The Lord, Hosanna to the highest!

A rescue mission for the same people who really didn’t know him, demonstrated by switching their celebration, to an examination, asking “Who Is This?!”

On Holy Monday – Jesus sees a fig tree that had produced leaves ahead of season.

  • He expected to find figs, instead it was fruitless. Jesus cursed the “fruitless” tree and it died the next day.

Another event of Holy Monday is the Temple cleaning. As part of prophesy, Jesus pronounced a symbolic judgment upon the lack of reverence, for the Lord’s house of prayer. Isaiah 56:7 (NRSV) these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.

Jeremiah prophesied in 7:11 (MSG) A cave full of criminals! Do you think you can turn this Temple, set apart for my worship, into something like that?   Well, think again! I’ve got eyes in my head. I can see what’s going on!

On Holy Tuesday –the conspiracies to trap Jesus escalated.

The Sadducees, and Israel, the church’s religious leaders had one unified goal: to get rid of this Jesus of Nazareth, and Jesus pronounced seven condemnations or (“Woes”) addressing the false religion of self-righteous, counterfeit church leadership in

Matthew 23:13 (MSG) “I’ve had it with you! You’re hopeless, you religion scholars, you Pharisees! Frauds! Your lives, are roadblocks to God’s kingdom. You refuse to enter, and won’t let anyone else in either.

Vs:14 (AMP) Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you swallow up widows’ houses and for a pretense to cover it up, make long prayers…

Vs:15 (KJV) Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte (or convert), and when he is made, ye make him twofold more, the child of hell, than (you) yourselves.

On Holy Wednesday – We remember the day Judas Iscariot first conspired with the Sanhedrin to betray our King Jesus.

On Maundy Thursday; believers remember The Last Supper Jesus shared with His disciplined Apostles, prior to His arrest and crucifixion.

  • Luke 22:19 (NLT2) He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me.” 20 After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people, an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.

On Maundy Thursday;Jesus addressed the dysfunctionality of leadership: Luke 22:25 (MSG) Jesus intervened: “Kings like to throw their weight around ,and people in authority, like to give themselves fancy titles. 26 It’s not going to be that way with you. Let the senior among you become like the junior, let the leader act the part of the servant! So, in His Divine Paradigm Shift, On Maundy Thursday;

  • Jesus went through being tried by Jewish Church Leaders
  • He went through being tried again at the hands the Romans
  • He went through being painfully beaten, and whipped,
  • He went through being mocked by the soldiers as they dressed Him in a purple robe and placed a crown of thorns on his head.
